Language Proficiency Expert

Definition


Language proficiency assessments are performed by one Language Proficiency Examiner (LPE) certified by the responsible Authority and one Language Proficiency Linguistic Expert (LPLE) certified by the responsible Authority within the framework of an LTB.

Holders of an LPE authorization may exercise the rights associated with their authorization exclusively within the framework and under the supervision of officially certified LTBs.


Tasks and Responsibilities

a) Responsible for the first rating of every entire language proficiency assessment (interactive, digital language test and interview),

b) Briefing of the candidate on the procedure of the assessment 

c) Supervision of the candidate during the interactive, digital test

d) Conduct of the personal interview with the candidate during the language proficiency assessment

e) Short written documentation about the assessment process and detailed justification of the assessment result on the basis of the ICAO rating scale.

Minimum Qualifications

Holder of a private pilot license PPL/IR

Holder of an instructor certificate according to Reg (EU) No 1178/2011 Annex I

Holder of an examiner certificate according to Reg (EU) No 1178/2011 Annex I

Record of an English language proficiency of Level 5 at the lowest, in field XIII of the pilot or ATCO license;
